EVERYTHING TO EVERYBODY
Did Jesus ever turn anyone away? No, but He didn’t baby-sit people either. Quickly I’m reminded of the story of the rich young ruler.
He came to Jesus with the question; what must I do to inherit internal life?
Jesus called this man to action and told him man to do something. Jesus was not about to take the man by the cheek and drag him to salvation. No, Jesus made the man decide.
So often I think Christians believe they have to “help” and pull their friends and family to get saved. Although these people want nothing to do with Jesus, they badger them with their words, experiences and their knowledge of the Bible.
They make pitiful attempts to show the love of God by “serving” and lose sight of what their mission really is. People then begin to take advantage of them and waste their time. They stop them from giving the awesome message of salvation to someone who would act on it.
When you become all things to all men, you must remember that does not mean to become people’s slave; because you are already God’s bondservant. You must instead be someone people desire to be like. Then, it is their choice, they must decide.
We must remember that we are not here to help people; we are here to empower them. Jesus said He came so that we could have life and have it more abundantly; but He’s not going to badger you and make you have it.
I Corinthians 9:22
22To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.
