Living The Good Life Has A Small Beginning

by Viktor Saari on Monday, April 5th, 2010

Opportunities – Are they what separate us? Some believe that because of their lack of opportunities in life they can make excuses. They believe that they were born into a bad family with a poor father. They believe that they don’t have the right color hair for the part. They believe they haft to have money to make money.

Their outlook is based on their current circumstances and they can’t see any further than that.

Now, you may be saying “well, I can see myself doing my dream job; but I just don’t know how to get there”. What you need to know is seeing further is not “dreaming” about who you want to be.

Your “dream” will always be a dream; if that’s all you do about it. My question to you is “How are you going to arrive at your destination? Now, if you read my last post, you know that you’re most important moment is the one that you’re living in right now.

Your life can’t be lived in the future; it must be lived in this moment. Remember this; life is lived today. You may not know this; but the person you desire to be, (you know, the one you dream about at night and day-dream about while you’re doing your current job) can be who you are today.

Your clothes, your house and the car you drive don’t make you who you are. They never have, and they never will. As soon as you understand that you will begin to realize how important the moment you’re living in now is.

You will begin to see “destiny” differently and more importantly you will begin to see people differently.

The question “How will you arrive at your destination?” must then be answered in the moment called now.

Now, in today’s culture we glorify “the answer” when in all reality the “answer” will not magically bring us to the destination. Most people believe that just because they have “the answer” they will reach their goals.

Which bring us back to “Your opportunity.”  Whether you know it or not opportunities are not situations that come to you, you must go to the situation. If you think you’re going to sit around on your couch and God is going to bless you; He won’t.

You must take action and press forward. We are to overcome evil; not sit back and let it beat us to a pulp. If there is a trade you desire to do, if there is a job you wish to have or a career you would like to be in; you must make opportunities for yourself.

Get involved in low level management of the job you desire. You must begin by taking a step into your desired life. And remember, you cannot be ashamed of starting small.

What do you want more; keep your so called “dignity” and sit on your couch the rest of your life? Or would you rather start by sweeping the floors in the career you know you were born to do?

JOB 8:7 Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase.

Your Greatest Moment…..

by Viktor Saari on Thursday, April 1st, 2010

I often wonder what my destiny holds in store for me and I begin to dwell on the future. I realize the future can be a very scary place. It is a place of insecurity for some, because they do not know what will come or what awaits them.

Some believe that they can change their future. They make plans, they write out what they want to do with their lives and set goals. They strategically map out their entire lives and believe if they stick to this regiment, it will bring them happiness and a sense of fulfillment.

Many believers also take this same approach to life. And others of the faith believe that this approach is wrong, and state: you should wait on God and let Him direct you.

They quote scriptures like “if the Lord is willing”, and because of this scripture most never take any action in their Christian walk as a believer.

So is writing out what you desire to do with your life wrong? Not necessarily; but you must question your motives as to why you want to do what you want to do.

One thing we fail to realize as both believers of the Word of God and as people of this world is that our mind was not meant to figure out our futures. In fact the Word of God says that that the natural mind (or your human thinking) is an enmity against God.

We were not made to think out our futures. Sure, there is nothing wrong with goal setting. There is nothing wrong with having a plan. But if that is where your security lies, your plans will not bring you peace. They will not bring you happiness or contentment. They will not bring you the life that you have truly desired.

Sure, they may bring you great wealth; you may become respected amongst men. You may become the person your father or mother wanted you to become; but none of this is real. None of these things will last forever. The life you build here on this earth will be left when you leave and the memory of who you are will slowly fade away.

Destiny is not a point in the future. No, destiny is the spot you are supposed to be in right now. I remember talking to a friend one time about our destinies. We were talking about the people we thought we were called to be and wondered how this would all come about.

I remember him making the statement “God, I just don’t know how I will get there”. I clearly saw that he was trying to figure out his whole entire destiny. He was trying to map out in his mind how he was going to achieve his goals.

I realized that because he was so focused on the future, he would never take action today. I also discovered another startling fact; he was always going to be subject to his circumstances. No plan, no matter how great, is not without a flaw. A plan cannot dictate what life will be like in 10 years.

One thing is for certain; you will never accomplish your dreams by thinking about it. We were not made to be led by what we THINK we should do.

No, we were made to be led by our hearts. We sometimes describe it as a “gut feeling” or our conscience; but it is much more than that.

For Christians it is the inward witness, the Holy Spirit who dwells in you because you accepted Christ as your Savior. The Bible says that those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. You are really not a child of God until you are led by Him.

If you desire to walk in the life you desire you must be led by your heart, not your head. Your head will always tell you to “leave it until tomorrow”; but your heart will always tell you what to do now.

I finished by telling my friend that I too was uncertain of what the future held, but that didn’t really matter. I told him that all my life I have been sure of one thing: God will always show me what to do at this very moment. I am not to look to what I should be doing 5 years from now; but rather what I should be doing at this very moment.

Right now is your greatest moment; what are you doing with it?

Are You Actually Innocent?

by Viktor Saari on Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

Innocence – it seems as though it is something that we have lost. For me it began in the sports world. Baseball was the first one I noticed, and then running right behind it was the sport I participated in, Hockey.

The game began to be filled by stimulants; drugs that would make your heart beat faster and of course pump the blood quicker. It gave players a “high” and allowed them to play at a heightened emotional state.

The game wasn’t the game anymore, it was a business, and if you wanted to succeed you would have to do what the other players did. What seemed to be a sport for the “natural” had become a sport for the drug addict and those who were willing to BUY victory and sell themselves in the process.

As a child Christmastime was a time that seemed so innocent to me. It was if the world was perfect and all was well. Looking back I wonder if I was totally disillusioned and ignorant or if the world really was a better place.

Now Christmas is very different for me than it was as a child. The reality of Christmastime is that suicides are prevalent, loneliness is at its peak and our poverty grows with all the gift buying.

Of course this puts us off on the wrong foot for the coming New Year and our depression seems to grow larger than it was before; because we seem to be living a life of hope of ever reaching our dreams.

So, what’s the good news? I’m sure by now you are tired of my depressing introduction; but I wonder if it’s very different from your life? Oh sure, you’ve had some good times, some great experiences; but I’m not talking about those, I’m talking about those lonely moments right before you go to sleep.

I’m talking about those mornings when you don’t feel like getting out of bed because there seems to be no purpose in both your life and life itself.

How do cope with these moments? How do you pull yourself out of these moments? And what causes these moments of insignificance that you have?

It has been my experience that life really has not lost its innocence. No, I recently realized that it was not life that had lost its innocence, but rather it was me.

The reason was not that I had changed into a terrible person over the years, or had become someone who was a determent to society. No, it was what I was doing that made me feel this way.

I have begun to realize the reason I do not “feel” innocent. It is because at times I have a wrong perception of me. I am beginning to see that as a child I saw myself as pure and clean. Somehow that changed and looking back at myself through the eyes of that child I realize I never put any expectancy on myself.

As a child believed I could do anything, with little or no effort. As a child I believed that I was perfect; even though I made mistakes. As a child I knew I didn’t know very much; but somehow I knew it would all work out.

Looking at myself now though, through the eyes of an adult, I seem to see things very differently. I realize I believe I can do anything, but somehow now I believe it will take a lot of work and some figuring (WRONG).

I no longer believe I’m perfect because now I look back and dwell on the mistakes I have made. It also seems to me that pointing out other peoples mistakes is something that comes very natural to me.

I have WAY more knowledge than I ever did as a child and those ideals that I had as a child seem to be absurd. Now I seem to believe I must have the correct knowledge for my situations and circumstances to work out. Although this is the way I “feel” some days, these kinds’ thoughts and actions totally contradict the Word of God.

Often as believers we wonder why the Bible doesn’t work for us, or even seem real to us at times. I think sometimes can’t see how the Bible even relates to our daily life because we believe that we have to have the answer to our own problems.

We have forgotten that way of the innocent child. If we ever expect to live in joy, peace and prosperity we must get back to that child like state. We must remember daily the price Jesus paid so that we would be innocent and would never again be tried for our crimes.

You and I are no longer guilty. We must live our lives as CHILDREN of God. Ignorance is not bliss. You must know who you are in Christ if you are to experience this world through innocent eyes.

MARK 10:14-15

14But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. 15Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.
